Teak is one of the most sought-after hardwoods due to its natural properties. It has a high concentration of rubber and oils which protects the surface, making it impervious to rain, weather and pests, and virtually immune to rot. It also allows the teak to self-regulate its temperature, leaving it warm to the touch in winter and cool in summer. It is these natural properties that make teak the ideal material for outdoor furniture.
In order to get the highest quality wood, a teak tree must grow for a minimum of 50 years. It is only after it is fully mature that the heartwood yields Grade A teak that is weatherproof and free from imperfections so that it can last for generations in a wide variety of climates with no finishes or treatments.
