Paine Art Center and Gardens

A Historic Estate with English-Inspired Gardens

Paine Art Center and Gardens

In the mid-1920s, when founders Nathan and Jessie Paine began planning their new home in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, they envisioned more than a house. They wanted to create an elaborate setting in the style of an English country estate. Since opening to the public in 1948, The Paine has held true to its founders’ vision.

The Process

The Estate
A Classic English Estate

The original owners of the property had a vision to create a traditional English countryside home.

Paine Center Gardens
A New Addition

In 2017, the Paine added a new formal garden to the estate designed by landscape architect Doug Hoerr.

Lutyens Bench
The Lutyens

To complement the English gardens, the historic Lutyens was selected.

The Result

"For the past 20 years, we’ve selected benches and other items from Country Casual Teak to accentuate the gardens of the historic Paine property. When we built an elaborate new formal garden, we also chose the benches for this setting from Country Casual Teak. The character and quality of the Luytens benches are the perfect choice to offer guests a special place to sit and enjoy the garden.”
