Annapolis Home Magazine

When Ginny and Michael Borner relocated from New York to Maryland, they selected the Eastern Shore for their retirement. The Willows is a 9,000 square foot farmhouse on 18 acres on the Miles River. Complete with pool, tennis court, screened-in porch and meadow, the Easton estate is a beautiful property that includes our Adirondack chairs, dining tables and benches.

DC-MD-VA APLD Garden Tour

Our Aspen Adirondack chairs, Studio planters and Teak Patio Octagon Umbrella were all showcased this past weekend at the DC-MD-VA Association of Professional Landscape Designers Garden Tour in Arlington, VA. Chapter memebers and homeowners were able to tour four homes to check out amazing outdoor spaces and hear from the designers about the evolution of each garden.

Magento's Innovations Lab Showcase

Country Casual Teak partnered with Scandiweb to create an immersive shopping experience using VR technology. Clients can select and explore an environment such as a winery, courtyard and poolside featuring Country Casual Teak outdoor furniture. The experience was built on the Magento platform and was chosen by their Innovations Lab to be part of their showcase.

Best of Bethesda 2018

Exciting news! Country Casual Teak won Bethesda Magazine’s “Best Place to Buy Outdoor Furniture” in their annual “Best of” reader contest. Each year, local residents vote for their favorite shops, restaurants, and more in the Montgomery County, MD and D.C. area. We’re so excited to have won this category yet again, and are so humbled and delighted that locals love and enjoy our furniture. 40th Anniversary Celebration

On Wednesday October 18th, we hosted our 40th anniversary celebration event at this year’s DC Design House! Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and a special congratulations to Barbara Katz with London Landscapes, who won our Foxhall bench giveaway. Each of our attendees was treated to a tour of this year’s Design House on us, with all proceeds benefiting the Children’s National Health Organization. We had a wonderful evening chatting with clients, reliving our past 40 years on the big screen, and enjoying the incredible designs that local designers created inside (and outside) the house.

D.C. Design House 2017

For the 4th year in a row, Country Casual Teak was thrilled to participate in the 2017 D.C. Design House. The D.C. Design House was open from October 1st to the 28th. Our furniture designer, Kim Asner, created a beautiful Poolside Oasis with Country Casual Teak furniture. Centered around our new Vista Cabana, green, black, and white are the main colors used, along with botanical fabrics as accents.

Seats for All Seasons

Club and Resort Business did a feature on one of our local clients, Woodmont Country Club. Woodmont CC has had our furniture for almost 10 years, and their furniture is looking better than ever. Woodmont’s Grounds Manager, Lisa Barton, gave a glowing review of our furniture, saying that Country Casual Teak’s furniture has not only held up well, it continues to be the club’s preferred choice for new purchases. Woodmont has a wide range of Country Casual Teak items, from Adirondack Chairs to Receptacles and Benches.

Setting A Summer Table

Our very own Furniture Designer, Kim Asner, was included in a piece on setting tables for summer get-togethers and dinner parties for local Connection Newspapers in the Maryland and Virginia area. The article discussed top design tips for setting tables and creating a setting that allows for stylish design, easy conversation, and a memorable meal. One of the recommended items was our Lumina candleholder as a centerpiece. Kim suggested to keep things causal, "...presenting family-style dishes down the center of the table," and adding candle lighting to set the mood. She also recommended using shorter flower arrangements add color without impeding the flow of conversation. You can read the entire article via PDF at the link below.

DC By Design

Our very own Furniture Designer, Kim Asner, was interviewed for DC By Design about her inspiration for her design in this year's DC Design House. The focal point of her design is our very own Vista Cabana, which has been a growing trend in design spaces. The Cabana will be accented by Salon pieces in a patterned black fabric and a pouf. We're very excited to see Kim bring the poolside oasis area to life in October!

Garden Party

Bethesda magazine put together a great article about summer entertaining essentials, and included our teak swings in the round-up! From lighting to drink dispensers, these are the top product must-haves for throwing parties and get-togethers during the warmer months, and like it says in the article, “Nothing says summer relaxation like a good old fashioned swing.”

Patio Ready for Summer?

Our very own product development director, Madeline Fairbanks, was interviewed for an article in the Alexandria Gazette Packet. The article discussed ways to create a festive space for outdoor areas, whether it's lounge, dining, or poolside retreats. Madeline suggested using colors and fabrics that coordinate and accent with ones used indoors to create a sense of continuity and a seamless transition between the spaces. Country Casual Teak's Calypso and Salon are featured in duPont Registry's March issue!

Two of our lounge collections, Calypso and Salon, have been featured in a duPont Registry article, "How to Create Free-Flowing Connections for Outdoor Spaces". Creating a seamless transition from inside to out can be difficult, but stylish furniture and strategic placement can make it that much easier. Some of the article's tips include using the same color palette to ensure the eye never stops moving, and including a focal point that stands out.

Chesapeake Views Magazine Article

Country Casual Teak was featured in an article for Chesapeake Views Spring 2015 magazine, where a local design company, Bountiful Interiors, refurbished a riverfront property on Maryland's eastern shore. They chose the Calypso dining table, coffee table, and living room set to put on their spacious patio, along with the Berwick Console Table. They plan on entertaining friends and family on their patio, and focused on creating a comfortable environment, which is why they chose Country Casual Teak.

Country Casual Teak was selected to participate in the 2015 DC Design House, the region's foremost annual residential design attraction as well as a leading fundraising event for Childrens National Health System. The Washington, DC Design House is a unique event for the DC Metro area in which top area designers showcased their talents to raise funds for a local charity. Revenue generated is donated to promote children’s health care, advocacy, research and education.

What began as a single event goal to raise funds for Children’s National Health System, has developed into the region’s foremost annual residential design attraction and as a leading annual fundraiser event.

MANTS 2015

MANTS is the premier, private green industry marketplace for plants and nursery stock, landscape and garden items, heavy and light duty equipment, tools, outdoor furniture and hundreds of allied industry products. The three day show took place in Lutherville, MD from January 14th through 16th featuring hundreds of exhibitors and the thousands of attendees. Country Casual Teak staff greeted visitors at booth 2109A displaying grade-A teak outdoor furniture, umbrellas, teak furniture care products, cushions, pillows and accessories.

Architectural Digest Article

Country Casual Teak outdoor sofas and dining chairs were featured in a June 2014 article in Architectural Digest titled: Living Color by Raul Barreneche. The article showcases a chic Hamptons home decorated by Carrier and Co. filled with furniture and accessories that reflect the rich local history. Country Casual Teak's Chateau teak planter was featured in the January 30, 2014 Home Section of The New York Times. The article illustrated how to repurpose containers and planters as a way of showcasing plants and greenery. Garden designer Jon Carloftis described the Chateau teak planters as looking good "on a balcony, on either side of a door, even inside a house on either side of a big fireplace." Classic and versatile, "anything you put in these will look like a million bucks."

Summer Soiree with Luxe Interiors

In July 2013, Country Casual Teak hosted a Summer Sioree in conjunction with Luxe Interiors and Design. The event was held in Country Casual Teak's Gaithersburg, Maryland showroom. Local designers, architects, landscapers and business owners enjoyed hors d'oeuvres and a tour of the showroom and its beautifully displayed teak furniture collections, cushions, pillows, umbrellas, accessories and teak gifts. Country Casual Teak sponsored an ASLA networking event in Washington, DC. Country Casual Teak associates had the chance to meet and greet ASLA members and to discuss Country Casual Teak furniture solutions for members’ upcoming projects and outdoor furniture needs.

Real Simple Magazine Article

The July 2012 issue of Real Simple featured Country Casual Teak and the Shelbourne lounger in "Chic Chaises." The section was a part of a home buying guide for outdoor seating, highlighting chairs with character and beautiful benches. The Shelbourne lounger was described as full service, with a pullout tray on both sides to hold drinks, and being comfortable with or without a cushion.

Tudor Place 20th Annual Garden Party Fundraiser

The Tudor Place Historic House, located in Washington, DC held its 20th Annual Garden Party Fundraiser on May 23, 2012. The Co-Chair of the event, Marcia Mayo, personally invited Country Casual Teak to provide teak furniture for their outdoor garden event. Completed in 1816, Tudor Place is located in the heart of Georgetown. It was designed by the architect of the U.S. Capitol, Dr. William Thornton and was the home of Martha Custis, George Washington’s granddaughter and her husband, descending through six generations of the Custis-Peter family. Today the house and garden are operated by the Tudor Place Foundation, whose mission is to educate the public about American history and culture through public tours, lectures, and programming. Funds raised from The Garden Party are essential to the Foundation’s ability to maintain Tudor Place and to provide for the care of its collection of decorative arts and fine art. Country Casual Teak furnished this historic home with Pyramid planters, Seneca round dining tables, and Chippendale benches to enhance the ambiance of the event and the comfort of the guests.

June 2011

Country Casual Teak featured on Indoors Out

Indoors Out hosts Dean Marsico and Derek Stearns teamed up with Maryland-based Landscape Architects Botanical Decorators to transform a small Washington D.C. patio into a Peruvian-themed Great Room. Their goal was to create a safe outdoor space suitable for children and relieve the pressure placed on the residence's small, overcrowded kitchen. To accommodate outdoor entertaining, Country Casual provided our Harborside teak extension table. To suit this space, Country Casual provided 4 sectional armless chairs to be placed around a fire pit, and included accent pillows in vivid colors to complement the Peruvian theme.

June 2011

Southern Living Magazine Article

The June 2011 issue of Southern Living featured Country Casual teak furniture in its article titled “Backyard Escapes”. The article featured three showcase homes whose backyards were transformed into “stylish destinations for a little R&R”. The first of these homes, located in Charleston, South Carolina, is owned by interior designer Muffie Faith. Her ‘Tropical Pool House’ was inspired by a mix of the beach houses in Pawleys Island, South Carolina and the open-air cottages of Thailand. The outdoor swimming pool and pool house, surrounded by palm trees, showcases a number of Country Casual teak chaises from our Seneca collection.

Better Homes and Gardens Article

As the summer of 2011 approached, Better Homes and Gardens style director, Stephen Perfetto, contacted Country Casual Teak to help furnish the perfect summer-time outdoor area as part of BHG’s ‘Chill and Grill’ summer special. In collaboration with several other national retailers, Country Casual Teak provided all the necessary elements needed to create a casual, contemporary outdoor entertaining and living area.

Country Casual Teak provided our exclusive teak dining tables, teak coffee tables, teak bar tables, teak bar stools, and teak patio umbrellas. The Country Casual Teak design team worked with Mr. Perfetto to showcase our Shoreham teak bar table and stools for bar seating that’s both sturdy and comfortable.

ASLA Annual Meeting

Each year, the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) hosts more than 6,000 landscape architecture professionals from across the United States and around the world to learn, network, and exchange ideas. In 2010, the ASLA expo took place in Washington, DC, only 25 miles from Country Casual Teak headquarters in Gaithersburg, Maryland. In support of ASLA, Country Casual sponsored an expo booth to bring our furniture design showroom directly to our customers. The booth showcased our most trusted teak site furnishings as well as innovative new designs including teak curved backless benches, teak planters, teak bar tables and stools, teak café seating and commercial teak benches.

While attending the show, Country Casual Teak furniture specialists and executives listened to Landscape Architects and learned more about their projects, furniture needs, and expectations. Our furniture specialists have many years of experience partnering with architects and designers on projects of all kinds, and it’s this type of experience that translates into unparalleled customer service.

New York Times Article

This New York Times Home & Garden article showcases the small 600 square foot Manhattan apartment of Enid Woodward, including her outdoor terrace. Ms. Woodward worked with Karen Fausch, owner of Metropolitan Gardener, for help designing her outdoor space. Together, they transformed the hectic, crowded space into a serene retreat with trees, planters, and a Country Casual Teak dining table.

Country Casual Teak Joins St. Jude 5K for the Cure

In October of 2010, Country Casual Teak employees gathered in Baker Park in Frederick, Maryland to participate in a 5K to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. As a corporate sponsor, Country Casual Teak helped to generate over $10,000 in donations for this great organization.

In Canadian Facility Management & Design Magazine article titled "You Want To Take It Outside?", Country Casual Teak's Foxhall bench was featured as an option for teak site furniture to use in outdoor areas of facilities.

Elle Decor Magazine

"Gentleman's Quarters" in the March, 2010 issue of Elle Décor magazine showcases the worldly decorating style of handmade rug importer Ben Soleimani. Soleimani, a connoisseur of fine English furniture and antique rugs, worked with interior designer Kerry Joyce to decorate his 1920’s era home.

Country Casual teak lounge seating creates an intimate conversation group underneath a grapevine covered pergola. The designer paired Seneca teak lounge chairs with Seneca 40 in. round teak coffee table for Mr. Soleimani’s brick-paved terrace. Using Country Casual teak furnishings brings a casual elegance outdoors and provides needed balance to the antique interior furnishings.
